Captain America M&M Sugar Cookies

The Fourth of July is just days away! When I think of this hoilday the first thing that comes to mid is the great people who are over seas and at home protecting us so we can live in this free country, but Disney wise i think of Captain America. I mean you cant get more patriotic then him! From his Suit, to his shelid it all just screams America! SO to celibrate our great nation in a Disney styled way I made Captain America M&M Sugar Cookies!!!
a27149_2a4f2982ceba4828937f2c7eaf1ff4d4

What you will need:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 1-1/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • red food color
  • Blue mega M&M’s

    What to do:

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. In a bowl sift together flour, baking powder & salt.
  3. In another mixer bowl with paddle attachment – beat butter until soft! (or use a Hand Mixer)
  4. Add sugar & beat until light & fluffy.
  5. Add in eggs one at a time – make sure you beat after each one.
  6. Add vanilla
  7. Add dry mixture & slowly beat in until combined all together.
  8. Remove half the dough & wrap in plastic wrap.
  9. Flatten out to 4×4″ piece &  refrigerate.
  10. With the rest of the dough beat in food color to your desired pigment. I added close to 40 drops of gel color to get this red.
  11. *Also- adding this much color will make your dough super sticky. You may want to coat hands in powdered sugar or flour for easier handling.
  12. Remove red dough & separate into 2 equal parts. Wrap with plastic & refrigerate at least 30 minutes.
  13. After it has chilled – remove one of the red dough packs
  14. Place between 2 layers of parchment & roll our to a large rectangle
  15. Remove top layer of parchment & roll dough into a log. This will be your center!
  16. Wrap back up with parchment & put in freezer while you work with the next layer.
  17. Remove your white dough from refrigerator & roll out in the same way you did the first batch.
  18. Once you have a thin, even rectangle – place your red log on the white dough & roll into a larger log.
  19. Repeat these steps for the final red dough.
  20. When you are done you should have a large red log
  21. baking sheets with parchment paper
  22. Take the log & slice it into 1/4 inch rounds
  23. Place on baking sheet 2 inches apart so you dont risk them touching
  24. Bake 9-11 minutes
  25. Right when you remove from oven – place your blue M&M’s in the center before the cookies cool down!

If you enjoy cookies like my family does these will be a hit ! I hoep everyone have a amazing Fourth of July, Stay safe and smart! Also from my family to yours thank you too all our Service Men/ Women for protecting us.

Maui’s in a Disney Park!

Okay Okay so he’s in Shanghai Disney Resort, but its a start right? The Demi God of the wind and sea from the movie Moana that came out in 2016, was pictured by Insatgram user Jessiiieowl. She stated on her post that Maui and the Chiefs Daughter Moana was in the new Summer Blast Castle Show in front of the beautiful Enchanted Storybook Castle.

There is no update on the Shanghai Disney Resort page if he will become a regular Character meet at the new park that opened up in June 2016. It is stated that the Stage show “Golden Fairytale Fare” that the Summer Blast Castle took the place of is currently undergoing maintenance.  There is also no update from Disney if Maui will becoming to the states at Disneyland Resort in Califormnia, or Walt Disney World in Orlando anytime soon.

We definitely have our fingers crossed that the Hero to all will becoming state side soon!  Do you like our Disney News Updates? Let us know, leave a comment below!

10 Disney Gear must haves

Being an Annual Passholder at Walt Disney World for the last 3 years as helped me get what gear I need for our trips to the happiest place on earth down pact. I’d thought i’d share what I bring to the parks with you!

Blogging disclosure: Posts may include links to my affiliate account at Amazon.com.  Raising Lost Boys earns a few cents of the dollar if you the readers purchase the items I recommend. Thanks so much for supporting my blog when you shop at Amazon!  Hat: GlitterWhipCO. Mickey Tape Pin: YesPleaseDisneyShop Shirt: Lularoe

10. Backpack/ Diaper bag

JanSport just came out with a new collection of Disney backpacks! Which makes it perfect for school and for the parks, also JanSport is always good qauilty so I know it last through our trips.  For our family of four we Bring our backpack and put all of our essentials in it, like wipes, diapers, extra clothes, snaks, and wallets.

9. Water Bottles

Did you know if you walk up to any quick service food station and ask for a cup of water they will give you ice water completely free, no purchase necessary, there are also tons of water fountains that have ice cold water.  We always bring our water bottles,  if we see a water fountain we just fill our bottles up and move along. Helps keep us hydrated during the day and no kids are upset because they need a drink, plus it saves so much money.

8. Magic Bands

Magic Bands are a defiant must have. They are what gets you In the parks, in your Disney Resorts if you’re staying on site, paying for your food, and also saves all those magical pictures you take with the photopass photographers all over the parks! You can customize them with a Magic Band skin or get one with designs on them already, And for the fancy laddies out there, there’s a Dooney & Bourke Magic band. You can also put on little “Charms” to personalize for each person for your family.

7. Ponchos

It’s Florida, and I have lived here my whole life and still can not explain to you why one minute its sunny and hot to a complete down pour, there is no predicting it ever! So having a poncho is nice to have as well. Just in case its starts randomly raining, or they can be used on rides like Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom , or Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom.

6. Autograph Book

If you love charcters then you will need a Autograph book. When the kids (or your self ) go and meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and even Peter Pan you want to be prepared and have them sign it so you can have that souvenir. One year we too a blank picture mat and had them sign that, then put a picture of us in the middle and it now hangs in our kitchen.

5. Portable chargers

Now if you take a lot of pictures with your phone this is a must have. Your phone will die if you use it all day, and then what? So what we use is a portable phone charger. Now Disney has put the portable chargers stations by Fuel Rod in the parks, and resorts. There is a one time fee of $30, and when its dead you can keep it and charge it your self or switch it out for a new one at one of the kiosks. They come with the Fuel Rod, and charge cord for either Apple, and Androids users. It provides up to 8 hours of talk time or up to 4 hours of mobile tablet usage. My dad found out about these and loved it.

4. Family Shirts

Our last trip there was at one time 14 of us, see our trip tips for large families here. So having a large party we decided to have matching family shirts for everyday we went. My mother and I made them ourselves so super simple, or you can also find a Etsy shop who sells them, but making them your self is a fun family thing to do before the trip!

3. Comfy Shoes

This ones if you don’t want your feet to hurt by the end of the day. Disney did collaborate with Vans and Keds to make some cute shoes, and if I know I’m going to be there all day I put some gel inserts in them.

2. Sunglasses/ Sunblock

That sun is horrible, so many people get sunburn while at the parks. Having a baby I have to bring the best sunscreen out there for babies/kids. Having some simple sunglasses can protect your eyes from the sun too. During the summer its so hot, and sunny its best to be prepared.

1. Mickey Ears/ Hat

Obviously having Mickey ears is a must have, I mean you’re at Disney! There are so many kinds of ears! I never leave the house with out my ears, and a hat for James.

Thats what you can find with us when we go to the Disney parks. What do you bring with you when going to the parks? Leave us your must haves down below! Thanks for reading!

Disney’s ‘Ohana Resturant Breakfast Review

Disney is known for their characters dinning experiences all over the Parks and Disney Destinations. You can eat with anyone from Pooh and Tigger at The Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom, Mickey, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy at Chef Mickey in the Contemporary  Resort , and even Cinderella and Her Prince Charming at the Royal Table in Magic Kingdom. This year I was lucky to eat breakfast with Lilo and Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto at ‘Ohana in the Polynesian Resort with my family! Here’s my review for the Character Breakfast.

6a00e54ee7b64288330133edb99883970b-500wi

First off after a long morning of waiting in the bus line at the All-Star Sports Resort for an hour we finally had to take 2 Monorails over and made it to the beautiful Polynesian Resort. Take the bus to the Magic Kingdom ticket and car center, then hop on to the Monorail to Magic Kingdom, then jump on the Resort Monorail. When we got there they were a little behind and we were a little late, so it worked out for the both the hostess and our party of 10.

When we were seated our waitress Laura came and immediately said hello and told us that at ‘Ohana we are all cousins, family. Our Waitress and my mother got along great because both women had children who are Autistic so they instantly clicked!

You can chose between what assorted drinks they have or you can drink the delicious tropical drink they provide as part of the “family-style” dinning.

“family-style” dinning to us was perfect for our large party, basically its all you can eat for the whole family, so once you are done with one tray they bring out another. The menu for breakfast is short and sweet, and quickly served minutes after you are seated. Here’s the Menu.

Hua Paka (Scrambled Eggs),  Uala Kahiki (Fried Potatoes), Pua’a (Pork), and of course Mickey-shaped Waffles.

18620320_1053011341466211_7989612183130554367_n
They also have Assorted Breakfast Breads (The bread was amazing)  and Seasonal Fruit.

Obviously you are not eating 5 star breakfast meals, but the food was quite filling for our trip to Animal Kingdom later on. The potato or “Uala Kahiki” were by far the best, they had a wonderful seasoning to them and were done. They serve the eggs scrambled which to me is how I like my eggs, but on the down side they were not fully cooked and a little soggy.

How character dinning works is while you’re eating the characters (in this case Lilo and Stitch, and Pluto) come to each table and take pictures and sign autographs. Now each character stay for around 5 minutes at each table, so if you want pictures you better be quick. Sometimes if you are there for a while you’ll see them twice. They also do a dance line and collect kids from their chairs and have them go around the restaurant with the characters and dance and have a little fun

The only thing I don’t like about character dinning is how fast they come and go, now i do understand they have to keep going to keep the pace up, but sometimes you want to play around with them and interact more then just a picture and autograph and bam their gone. Also another reason is because its so fast pace , its a tad bit crazy and unorganized at times, everyone’s standing up trying to get pictures with the characters. We had a photographer come and say we were next for Stitch to come see our family and then Pluto came up and Stitch completely skipped over our table.

Out of a rate scale of 5 , I’d have to give breakfast at ‘Ohana around a 3. They food wasn’t amazing but filling and endless. The characters were great for the 5 minutes we did get to interact and take photos with them. Id still do it all over gain just to see the look on my sons face when he saw Mickey.

Mickey Mouse Apple Crumble

img_0046

Ever just want something sweet Mickey Mouse shaped? I know my family does! When we are missing the parks I like to make some Mickey shaped treats to I guess you can say to fill the void! Today I made a Mickey Mouse shaped apple crumble! It’s a huge hit in my house, and didn’t even last a whole day!

My kitchen is Disney inspired, so during our last stay at Disney World my parents got me this adorable Mickey Mouse shaped Casserole Dish, which I fell in love with! I thought Id use this to make my apple crumble!

What You’ll Need:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup  unsalted butter, room temperature
1 large egg
1/4 cup orange juice
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 med granny smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped (2 cups)
1 Tbsp lemon juice

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350. Spray an 8×11 baking pan with non-stick spray. ( I used My Mickey Mouse Casserole Dish)

 2. Mix the dry ingredients together in a medium bowl.
 3. Stir the chopped apples and lemon juice together and put aside.
 4. In a large bowl, cream the sugar and butter together.

5. Add in the egg, orange juice and vanilla.

 6. Mix in the dry ingredients, then fold in the apples. Spread into an even layer in the prepared baking dish.

7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until brown on top and a toothpick  into the middle of the cake comes out clean.

If you want to make it extra sweet pour some caramel on it, or serve it with some ice cream! This was such a hit in my house, and Bentley loved the fact it was shaped as Mickey Mouse!

Make Magnets from Disney Buttons

image3

We are a huge Disney Family, in 2015 we got Disney World Annual Passes and it was the best money spent in our household. During our multiple trips a month we collected a lot of the free Disney Buttons that you get as you walk in to the parks, or at guest services. Also they have them in Disney Springs at Guest Services in case you are not visiting the parks but still want that Disney magic. I ended up buying a few from Parkboundbuttons.com as well, Casey makes the cutest buttons, and through out the park I was asked by so many where I got them. Plus now she makes them big enough for the characters to sign on them! How awesome is that?!

I need a place to put all of my amazing Disney buttons but also still be able to wear them when I go to the parks. My kitchen is all Disney and my fridge was looking bare. so I decided to make my buttons in to magnets, but making them also come off, making them wearable still.

I found these magnets which came in a box of 100, I thought just in case we ever got more buttons I had extra magnets. To make them I put two magnets together and placed them on the back, right under the pin. I personally didn’t glue mine for the reason that if we were planning on going one day I could go to my fridge and pick the one I want a go, and place them back on when we get home with a breeze.

We love our Disney Buttons/Magnets, I  hope you enjoy them as well! What are some crafts you do with your buttons? Share below in the Comment section!

Making pancake shapes easier.

img_0006

I don’t know about you, but I am the worst pancake maker ever. I always other have the pan to hot and burn my pancakes, or my pancakes come out looking like distorted circles trying to be shapes. Now saying that my mom showed me this neat little idea to make it less painful to make pancakes into less painful cool shapes. So if you are lacking in the cooking deparment on some foods here’s my tip to you!

IMG_0012.JPG

This awesome tool is a Dispenser Bottle, obviously you’ve seem them when you go to restaurants, or baseball game for my family where mostly there is ketchup or mustard in them. Every time I make pancakes I seem to be on Facetime with my mom and she normally gets a huge laugh from me failing on the pancake making skill that I do not have. So for Christmas she got me my own dispenser bottle so I can finally make semi decent pancake figures (mostly Mickey Mouse and Dinosaurs).

Just pour the pancake mix in the bottle, and pour it on the pan in desired shape, it’s like decorating a cake. This made making pancake shapes easier. She bought mine here, and it comes in a package of 6 which is awesome if you want to be extra crafty and make different colors in each bottle and make colorful pancakes.

I’m sure you child will love the new shapes you can make now, just like Bentley did when he saw his Dino on his plate! Enjoy, and show me some shapes you’ve make with your pancakes in the comment section.

A letter from a young mom.

A letter from a young mom

.15621784_928470100587003_1322463608354950788_n

In this world we live in now, becoming a mother at a younger age is becoming more of the norm. Yet even though it happens more and more, people seem to judge you more and more. They say that becoming a mom or parent at such a young age ends your life. That all you can ever become is a toy picking up, diaper changing, bath giving, and snot nose wipin everyday mamma.

I recently had a friend of mine travel on a 5 month hike, and on one of his inspirational post through Instagram some things he said caught my attention. Now he wasn’t putting down anyone, but instead encouraging people and do things you wouldn’t normally do like he did by going on this long endeavor. See his amazing photos of his travel here.

Now seeing his amazing adventure it came to me, that my life, my normal everyday mamma life is also truly amazing. I know this, and have known this since my son was born, but I believe that some people out there think that becoming a parent at such a young age ends your life,  now I’m not knocking what my friend went through and how i know it was a life changing experience, I just want to let people in on a little secret. Being a toy picking up, diaper changing, bath giving, and snot nose wipin everyday mamma is possibly the most amazing and exciting adventure you will ever have in life because it never ends.

Finding that person who will truly unconditionally love you, that when you see their smile it lights up your world, that watching day by day how they learn something brand new, and become so excited and proud of themselves when they do. It’s so rewarding, like opening  a new present each day for the rest of your life. Not just for a few months, or weeks, or days, but forever.

So mom’s to be, don’t think that your life will become irrelevant or that what you will go through each day is boring or lacks adventure, because it’s so much adventure, that some times your body will crash, you will be tired and never get a moment of peace, that even going to the bath room alone will be hard but all will be worth it.
