Large Disney Family Vacation

So as I’ve stated before my brother Jeffery is in Special Olympics. Every year he makes it to state, which is held at Disney’s Wide World Of Sports, in Disney World. This year of course was no different. We make a Disney Vacation out of the week we are there, which of course is always magical. This year on the Friday we had 14 Family members tag along on our day at Magic Kingdom! So here is how to do Disney with a large group!

Fastpass!

Get it quick and get it early!

What I mean by this is, If you book your Vacation early and buy your park tickets, you can reserve your fastpass up to 60 days ahead of time! That gives you plenty of time to get an amazing fast pass like 7 Dwarf Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Splash Mountain. Having to stand in a long stand by line with a bunch of people in your group sucks, getting fastpasses gets you in and gets you out quick, so theres more to do with your family in the day your are there.

Dinner/ Breakfast Reservations.

Make sure to book those way ahead of your trip as well, Especially if you want to do a special restaurant like Be Our Guest, or Cinderella’s Royal Table, or Even over at The Rainforest Cafe in Disney Animal Kingdom.

Truth is if you have a huge party you probably wont get in to Table Service Restaurant if you don’t make reservations ahead of time.

We had Breakfast over at Ohana in the Polynesian, read more about  our Ohana breakfast here. It was such an amazing experience. Our Server was Laura, she was such a sweet heart and made us feel truly a part of her Ohana.  The food was delicious !

Plan your day.

One of my biggest regrets was not planning our day. We were everywhere, from Adventrueland , to Tomorrow land. It was crazy, have a plan and stick to it! Obviously you want to work your plan around your FastPasses for it to be more smooth. Magic Kingdom is like a big circle , Start from Adventureland and work your self over to Frontierland , then Liberty Square, then Fantasyland, then TomorrowLand. Its not a perfect circle but pretty close. Makes it for such a better and easier day on everyone.

Breaks

Take breaks. Our group got tired around 3 pm, so we went back to our hotel relaxed for a bit, and then later went back to the park. After being in the hot sun for the day it felt great to go back and relax by the pool and lay in our room for a bit. When we felt refreshed we took the bus transportation you get for free when you stay at a Disney World resort. Which bring me too….

18620363_1053009858133026_1460140395234403887_n

Stay on site!

I can not stress it enough, yes it may be less expensive to stay off site… BUT you can save money by taking the transportation you get when staying at a Disney World resort. There is not just buses if you’re not a bus person , there is Boats and cars at some resorts. Plus it makes getting back and forth to the parks so much easier!

Get Photopass..

Okay this ones not a have too, but I wish we would have gotten it because yes i took a lot of pictures on our trip, BUT I wish I could have the ones the Photopass photographers got for us. Cause they always blow me away!

Just have fun

All in all just have fun.. Yes you’re at the happiest place on earth but with a large party it gets super stressful!

Making pancake shapes easier.

img_0006

This post contains affiliate links.  See my full disclosure policy here

I don’t know about you, but I am the worst pancake maker ever. I always other have the pan to hot and burn my pancakes, or my pancakes come out looking like distorted circles trying to be shapes. Now saying that my mom showed me this neat little idea to make it less painful to make pancakes into less painful cool shapes. So if you are lacking in the cooking deparment on some foods here’s my tip to you!

IMG_0012.JPG

This awesome tool is a Dispenser Bottle, obviously you’ve seem them when you go to restaurants, or baseball game for my family where mostly there is ketchup or mustard in them. Every time I make pancakes I seem to be on Facetime with my mom and she normally gets a huge laugh from me failing on the pancake making skill that I do not have. So for Christmas she got me my own dispenser bottle so I can finally make semi decent pancake figures (mostly Mickey Mouse and Dinosaurs).

Just pour the pancake mix in the bottle, and pour it on the pan in desired shape, it’s like decorating a cake. This made making pancake shapes easier. She bought mine here, and it comes in a package of 6 which is awesome if you want to be extra crafty and make different colors in each bottle and make colorful pancakes.

I’m sure you child will love the new shapes you can make now, just like Bentley did when he saw his Dino on his plate! Enjoy, and show me some shapes you’ve make with your pancakes in the comment section.

A letter from a young mom.

A letter from a young mom

.15621784_928470100587003_1322463608354950788_n

In this world we live in now, becoming a mother at a younger age is becoming more of the norm. Yet even though it happens more and more, people seem to judge you more and more. They say that becoming a mom or parent at such a young age ends your life. That all you can ever become is a toy picking up, diaper changing, bath giving, and snot nose wipin everyday mamma.

I recently had a friend of mine travel on a 5 month hike, and on one of his inspirational post through Instagram some things he said caught my attention. Now he wasn’t putting down anyone, but instead encouraging people and do things you wouldn’t normally do like he did by going on this long endeavor. See his amazing photos of his travel here.

Now seeing his amazing adventure it came to me, that my life, my normal everyday mamma life is also truly amazing. I know this, and have known this since my son was born, but I believe that some people out there think that becoming a parent at such a young age ends your life,  now I’m not knocking what my friend went through and how i know it was a life changing experience, I just want to let people in on a little secret. Being a toy picking up, diaper changing, bath giving, and snot nose wipin everyday mamma is possibly the most amazing and exciting adventure you will ever have in life because it never ends.

Finding that person who will truly unconditionally love you, that when you see their smile it lights up your world, that watching day by day how they learn something brand new, and become so excited and proud of themselves when they do. It’s so rewarding, like opening  a new present each day for the rest of your life. Not just for a few months, or weeks, or days, but forever.

So mom’s to be, don’t think that your life will become irrelevant or that what you will go through each day is boring or lacks adventure, because it’s so much adventure, that some times your body will crash, you will be tired and never get a moment of peace, that even going to the bath room alone will be hard but all will be worth it.

Mickey Mouse Apple Pie Apples!

Fall always brings out the yummy apple recipes in my house, Bentley is such a fruit child that we always have to have some kind of fruit laying around for him to munch on. If you have ever been to Disney World or Disneyland you know there is some Disney candy covered apples in the parks! This fall we cant make it to the Disney Parks to get some, so I thought that we would make our own! YUM

What you need:

  • 4 large Granny Smith apples

  • 5-6 c. caramels (or appx. 1 bag Kraft Caramel bits)

  • 7-8 cinnamon graham crackers

  • 1 1/2 lbs. melting chocolates (or chocolate chips)

  • cinnamon and sugar, to taste (appx 2 Tbsp sugar + 1/8 tsp. cinnamon)

  • 8 large marshmallows (if you want to make “ears” which in my opinion makes it more magical)

What to do:

1. Scrub apples and dry with a dishcloth or paper towel. This is to get the wax coating off

2. Melt caramel in the microwave (in a micvrowave-safe dish) for 30 seconds at a time until caramel is nice and melted or follow directions on package if using the Bits.

3. Place caramel apple sticks or cop sticks into the top of each apple and dip each apple into the caramel until fully coated, rotating the apple as needed. Let excess caramel drip off and them place on wax paper. ( Make sure you spray the wax paper with Pam or other non stick spray before placing them on paper, they WILL stick to paper if you don’t)

4. If you want to make ears take marshmallows dip a side in the caramel and place on the the top of the apples to make ears( I also learned that putting toothpicks through the marshmellows into the apple helps hold so much better) , hold for about 15 seconds. Let sit for about an hour or longer if you want. ( you can also put in fridge )

5. Put graham crackers in zip block bag , and smash with mallet. Make sure they are really broken down. Place in bowl and set aside.

6. Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe dish in the microwave until chocolate is just melted and there are no lumps. Dip each apple in the chocolate and allow chocolate to set up for a few seconds.

7. When chocolate has set a little, roll the bottom half in processed graham cracker crumbs, pat down hand just a tad. Sprinkle entire apple with cinnamon and sugar and set aside.

With this treat I wanted to make it more kid friendly and have a little help, my son Bentley help me mash the gram crackers and roll the chocolate covered apples in the gram crackers. My only tip is don’t double dip from chocolate to gram crackers back to chocolate, we had to learn the hard way. Other then that , we had a blast making them and a blast eating them as well! I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more Disney themed deliciousness!

Halloween craft for those who cant touch pumpkins!

blog

About 3 years ago we found out Bentley was allergic to pumpkins ( I know such a odd allergies)! So this year I wanted to find a alternative for carving pumpkins. While shopping at the best craft store, Michaels. Which right now the Halloween decor and crafts is 50% off, score!

14671337_1261707483871636_5424124444939869584_n

We happened to walk past these Styrofoam skulls, and thought what a neat idea to do by having paint them instead of carving a pumpkin. The skulls and other Styrofoam figures (Frankenstein, Witch , and a zombie) were actually 60% off , which ended up making them come out to about $3.00 each.

 14600992_1261707443871640_1167041762222587594_n

We also bought a package of this kind of paint , it was only $8.00 for the whole pack of 12.

14572807_1261707420538309_7579398332166419723_n

Bentley had a blast painting his skull! While painting we even practiced how to spell his name, and what colors he wanted to use! So it doubled as a fun craft and a education lesson.

What Halloween craft’s are you doing this year besides carving pumpkins? Share below !

Planing for a Baby Financially

14615642_1258282577547460_6482339493783344797_o

Being on a tight budget and being a stay at home mom and pregnant with Baby #2, I needed to find ways to save some money before baby arrives. So far I’ve saved up to $50 in gift cards, and already bought Remy over 100 pieces of clothing ranging from newborn to 12 months, and some baby gear.  Here’s how I saved hundreds for my soon to be family of four at 20 weeks pregnant.

5. Shopkick App

shopkick_logo

Shopkick is this amazing Phone app where once you enter certain stores, scan the Items on the list, purchase certain items, and scan receipts you earn kicks, and when you have enough kicks you can trade them in for gift cards Ranging from Walmart, Starbucks, Target, even save money on gas! I have gotten up to $50 in gift cards using this App. It does take time, but over the course of 9 months you can rack up some kicks!

4. Stock up

You probably see “Stock Up” on every blog talking about planning for a baby financially, But by buying diapers and wipes, even toilet paper now and when you see them on sale you will save for the future.

3. Coupon’s

Coupon’s are such a money saver!  Now you don’t have to become an extreme coupon-er to save money, even just saving a few dollars here and there is still saving! When I started with coupons I was so confused , so many different kinds of coupons, and rules. To get started I went to YouTube and watched different videos but mostly got all my information from this amazing blog. She explains everything so well, and makes it easy to follow.

2. Sell what you don’t need or Trade for what you do need.

If you have some clothes you don’t wear or some house items that just don’t go along with your house anymore sell it. Chances are there are Facebook pages for your county where you can sell your items.  You can also trade with other moms. Say you have some clothes that don’t fit your prego belly  and another mom has some clothes that her baby out grew, you can trade for them.

1. Garage Sales

My biggest saver! I was blessed enough to drive up on a garage sale, where a mother was selling her son’s clothes he didn’t fit in anymore. When i had picked out about $5.00 worth of clothes she told me shes gonna pack up and donate the rest of what i didn’t take. I ended up basically getting everything for $45. From baby clothes, maternity clothes, bottles and even a Boppy Pillow! Now not every garage sale you pull up to will do this, but you can find a lot of stuff cheaper which is always great and saves a bunch of money.

img_0378

Some other ideas could be

  • Start a little Home daycare
  • Find a craft you’re good at and sell the item.
  • Become a consultant for a company ( Such as It works, Scentsy, or Usborne Books)

Saving money can be challenging, but if you follow some of those ideas, it should start becoming a litttle easier, and once you start saving you’ll find more and more ways to save! What do you do to save before a baby is due to arrive? Share some of your ideas below in the comment box!
