DIY Madeline Book Banner

Were finally getting our girl, and I have always adored the name Madeline from the books as a child. When James agreed to the name I was ecstatic! Unfortunately there is not a lot of Madeline rooms out there that I could find. Finding some decor ideas was a bit of a challenge, I did however see a recent picture of someone who was selling a vintage book banner and it gave me an idea for her room! I previously had an old ripped up Madeline Book and just never felt the will to throw it away.

What you will need:

Madeline Book

Scissors

Pencil

Whole punch

Twine or ribbon

Directions:

1. Carefully take all the pages, and pick out the pages that you feel will look best!

2. I decided to cut down the pages to all one size , I chose a page that was the perfect size I had in mind and use it as a template to cut out the rest of the pages down to its size.

3. After you have traced and cut, Put the pages in desired order that looks best to you! I put mine in semi order what how the book went.

4. Then take the whole punch a place one whole on either side of a page at the top.

5. Take your twine or ribbon a feed it through the whole punches wholes in desired order you had laid out.

6. Hang up the banner and enjoy!

Honestly super simple project, and it’s the perfect fit for a Madeline inspired nursery, or any book inspired nursery.

One more to adore!

Weight Gain/Loss:  13 weeks: 170 17 weeks: 165
Sleep: Wake up constantly
Best Moment This Week:
Finally got into Dr. Smith which is the Doctor I had with the boys and I feel so much more at ease!
Movement: Haven’t felt any movement yet.
Food Cravings: Nothing

10 Disney Gear must haves

Being an Annual Passholder at Walt Disney World for the last 3 years as helped me get what gear I need for our trips to the happiest place on earth down pact. I’d thought i’d share what I bring to the parks with you!

Blogging disclosure: Posts may include links to my affiliate account at Amazon.com.  Raising Lost Boys earns a few cents of the dollar if you the readers purchase the items I recommend. Thanks so much for supporting my blog when you shop at Amazon!  Hat: GlitterWhipCO. Mickey Tape Pin: YesPleaseDisneyShop Shirt: Lularoe

10. Backpack/ Diaper bag

JanSport just came out with a new collection of Disney backpacks! Which makes it perfect for school and for the parks, also JanSport is always good qauilty so I know it last through our trips.  For our family of four we Bring our backpack and put all of our essentials in it, like wipes, diapers, extra clothes, snaks, and wallets.

9. Water Bottles

Did you know if you walk up to any quick service food station and ask for a cup of water they will give you ice water completely free, no purchase necessary, there are also tons of water fountains that have ice cold water.  We always bring our water bottles,  if we see a water fountain we just fill our bottles up and move along. Helps keep us hydrated during the day and no kids are upset because they need a drink, plus it saves so much money.

8. Magic Bands

Magic Bands are a defiant must have. They are what gets you In the parks, in your Disney Resorts if you’re staying on site, paying for your food, and also saves all those magical pictures you take with the photopass photographers all over the parks! You can customize them with a Magic Band skin or get one with designs on them already, And for the fancy laddies out there, there’s a Dooney & Bourke Magic band. You can also put on little “Charms” to personalize for each person for your family.

7. Ponchos

It’s Florida, and I have lived here my whole life and still can not explain to you why one minute its sunny and hot to a complete down pour, there is no predicting it ever! So having a poncho is nice to have as well. Just in case its starts randomly raining, or they can be used on rides like Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom , or Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom.

6. Autograph Book

If you love charcters then you will need a Autograph book. When the kids (or your self ) go and meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and even Peter Pan you want to be prepared and have them sign it so you can have that souvenir. One year we too a blank picture mat and had them sign that, then put a picture of us in the middle and it now hangs in our kitchen.

5. Portable chargers

Now if you take a lot of pictures with your phone this is a must have. Your phone will die if you use it all day, and then what? So what we use is a portable phone charger. Now Disney has put the portable chargers stations by Fuel Rod in the parks, and resorts. There is a one time fee of $30, and when its dead you can keep it and charge it your self or switch it out for a new one at one of the kiosks. They come with the Fuel Rod, and charge cord for either Apple, and Androids users. It provides up to 8 hours of talk time or up to 4 hours of mobile tablet usage. My dad found out about these and loved it.

4. Family Shirts

Our last trip there was at one time 14 of us, see our trip tips for large families here. So having a large party we decided to have matching family shirts for everyday we went. My mother and I made them ourselves so super simple, or you can also find a Etsy shop who sells them, but making them your self is a fun family thing to do before the trip!

3. Comfy Shoes

This ones if you don’t want your feet to hurt by the end of the day. Disney did collaborate with Vans and Keds to make some cute shoes, and if I know I’m going to be there all day I put some gel inserts in them.

2. Sunglasses/ Sunblock

That sun is horrible, so many people get sunburn while at the parks. Having a baby I have to bring the best sunscreen out there for babies/kids. Having some simple sunglasses can protect your eyes from the sun too. During the summer its so hot, and sunny its best to be prepared.

1. Mickey Ears/ Hat

Obviously having Mickey ears is a must have, I mean you’re at Disney! There are so many kinds of ears! I never leave the house with out my ears, and a hat for James.

Thats what you can find with us when we go to the Disney parks. What do you bring with you when going to the parks? Leave us your must haves down below! Thanks for reading!

Tips on Taking an infant to Disney World.

17362595_989417901158889_116398315765056363_n

This year before Leo was born my family got Disney World Annual Passes and we love them! Well, Bentley and I love them, James is not a crazy obsessive Disney lover like myself. Bentley is slowly but surly turning in to one ( yes I’m a very proud mamma ). After Leo was born I was itching to take him to Disney! Finally after a few weeks we decide to take on the challenge and go to Disney with Leo! Here are some of my tips for you.

Packing

Make sure to pack a few extras! Obviously you should have extras in your bag already, but just put one or two more diapers and outfits! Leo peed on me twice so it was a good thing I brought and four outfits instead of my normal two in my diaper bag. Also make sure to pack a small blanket , for when you change your baby so he doesn’t have to lay on the hard changing table.

Backpack

As my Diaper bag for at the parks I carry a backpack instead of the diaper bag. For me its just easier to carry around seeing I didn’t bring a stroller.

BabyWearing

I wore Leo around the parks in a ErgoBaby 360 carrier ( Thanks Ally for letting us borrow it)  , so we didn’t have to lug around the stroller and deal with the crowed and rude people walking in front of us. Now Leo was also only 8lbs so it was not a strain on my back, I’m sure as he gets bigger and older we will bring in the stroller, but for now its just as easy to carry him around.

Also I liked him being closer to me so I know no one would touch him.

Take breaks!

You want to take breaks and relax in a cooled area or in the shade. Thankfully the day we went wasn’t so hot( actually it was a bit chilly ) so Leo did’t get hot while i was wearing him aorund the parks!

Keep yourself and Baby hydrated

Yes seriously I have to say this one. Obviously you want the baby to stay hydrated even more so if you are going during the summer hot months. Also make sure you’re hydrated as well because trying to take care of a baby and being extremely weak just does not mix.

Baby Care centers

Use them! They are awesome! Every park as them which I will list below where to find them in each park. They have a place where you can change and feed your baby in private if you are a breastfeeding mother and want to be in a more private place or need a quite place so your little one can catch a quick nap. They also have a store near by which holds baby formula, juice, food, and diapers just in case you run out of anything!

Make Kingdom- Between Casey’s corner and The Crystal Place.

Animal Kingdom- In the building to the left of The Tree of Life.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios- Inside Guest Relations

Epcot- Inside the Odyssey Center

Ultimately it was a challenge, but we still had a great day! Just take the day slowly and have fun! I mean you’re at Disney World! If you have any extra tips you think should be known, write them down in the comment box and let me know!

10 things no one tells you about being pregnant.

When I first got pregnant with Bentley at 19 people would sit and tell me loads of amazing advice about being pregnant and becoming a mom, and now being pregnant with Leo at 24 they still say the same things, but I have figured out by this pregnancy that there is just some stuff that no one tells you! So here’s the list of my experience and what I think you should know about being pregnant.

img_98891

10. Feeling your baby kick you is weird and sometimes painful.

I love feeling my babies kick inside my tummy, but it sometimes is not fun and exciting. One time Bentley kicked me and hit a nerve and I fell into a wall… This time Leo loves to just kick my bladder as I walk so I always feel like I’m going to pee myself. No one explained how weird and sometimes unpleasant it would be.

9Sometime you will HATE your favorite food.

My favorite food is broccoli ( I know I’m weird )  and I knew about all the cravings I would have but no one told me that quite possibly I would hate my favorite food! My suggestion, eat it when you want it! Don’t hesitate, if you suddenly want your favorite food and have been hating it during the whole pregnancy.. tell your hubby, boyfriend, or whoever to go out and get it.

8. Hormones are crazy

Obviously, you hear about having crazy hormones on TV, or from other moms but you think “Nah not me”, but guess what… One minute you’re sad than happy, then god knows what else. It’s real, and it sucks. With Bentley, I wasn’t that bad, but being pregnant with Leo I have found out that I might be a tad bit crazy.. I have been getting a little short tempered with people(mostly family), then feeling completely guilty 5 seconds later.

7. Friends

You will learn who your real friends are during this time. If you’re a younger mother, most of your friends will not understand the shit that is going on with you, or not understands why you can’t stay out till 3 am like before because you just want to stay in bed and sleep. My best advice, let them go. From here on out it’s about you and that baby, and making sure its healthy and happy. You can always join a Mommy group, there are tons around the internet who do understand everything you are going through and if you find the right one you could make some awesome friends who also like to sleep at 3 am.

6. Other Mom’s opinions

Every other mom WILL put their “advice” on your situation. Get over it.. right now. Learn what you will be judged about everything. If you are going breastfeed, if you don’t, if you are going use regular or cloth diapers, if you should co-sleep or not, and etc. You WILL be judged, and you just have to teach yourself that they might “mean well”, but you do what’s best for your child. You go by what you think is safest or right for your child. I am super bad about this, I always let what people think into my head and it overwhelms me away too much. I’m slowly learning not to let it bother me and tell them to shut it or ignore them.

5. Hemorrhoids

Gross, yes I know, but they happen to some moms, and no one ever wants to talk about them because they do suck and they are painful and gross. If they get too painful see your doctor or midwife so they can give you some cream to help with the pain.

4. Maternity clothes are sometimes ugly and expensive.

Yep, some of them you will look at and say “ew this is what I have to pick from” or “holy cow $40 for a shirt” If you can wear them, my best advice is to get a bunch of leggings or yoga pants. Complete life saver and money saver.

3. The last few Weeks.

The last few weeks go by so slow! No one told me that with my second child I would be dying to have baby Leo come out sooner rather than later. Every cramp, pain and total clean fest I am constantly wondering ” Is this it?” no… no it’s not. Just try and be patient. Try being the keyword.

2. Wives tales to jump-start labor.

Of course, everyone tells you about them. Red Raspberry Leaf  Tea, Walking, Exercise, sex, Pineapples, and spicy food. We’ve heard them all, but what no one tells you, is that it’s completely depressing when NONE of them work. We have tried everyone out there, except castor oil… I really don’t want to be shitting my self all night so I have stayed away from that one.

1 Being Pregnant is a blessing.

I constantly see the post of fake pregnancies on Facebook from other girls, and at first I thought it was funny… until last January I had a miscarriage… You hear it happen to some moms and really don’t think it could happen to you.. but it can.. and its the worst feeling ever, but when/if you become pregnant again the overwhelming joy feeling of knowing this time it’s going to be okay… Will make you feel like this child is such a blessing and trust me it is! Yes, I lost a child but now we have an angel watching over us and God has given us another chance. Blessing.

Being Pregnant has its Major ups and major downs. If you feel depressed about anything, talk to your Doctor/Midwife, friends and family. Ask around to see what advice people give you, but don’t let their opinions become an obsession of doubt in your mind.. it could turn what is suppose to be the most amazing experience into a shity one.

Congrats on the baby, and try to Enjoy your Pregnancy!
